Debbie Rigby

Debbie Rigby is a consultant clinical pharmacist from Brisbane. Since graduation with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Queensland she has since obtained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy, Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Pharmacy and certification as an Asthma Educator; and credentialed as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist.

Debbie is a Director on the NPS MedicineWise Board (National Prescribing Service) since 2008 and is the current Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Debbie has had ministerial appointments to the Australian Therapeutic Goods Advisory Council (ATGAC) and Natural Therapies Review Advisory Committee (NTRAC). She was a Clinical Governance Advisor to NEHTA, and now is a Clinical Reference Lead for the Australian Digital Health Agency.

Over the last 20 years Debbie has served on numerous committees for pharmacy organisations including as Chair and Director of the Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy (AACP), national vice-president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and a PSA Qld Branch committee member. The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) Accredited Pharmacist Reference Group is chaired by Debbie.

Debbie is also a Fellow of PSA, Australian College of Pharmacy (ACP), American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP), Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Academic appointments include Adjunct Senior Lecturer at University of Queensland and Visiting Fellow at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Debbie also sits on the Australian & New Zealand Continence Journal Editorial Committee, MIMS Editorial Board and the ASCP journal The Consultant Pharmacist Editorial Review Board.

Debbie has a special interest in geriatric pharmacotherapy and asthma management, regularly conducts medication review services (Home Medicine Reviews) in collaboration with GPs in a medical centre, as well as providing education to pharmacists, general practitioners, nurses, nurse practitioners and consumers.

In 2001 Debbie was awarded the PSA Australian Pharmacist of the Year, in 2002 the PSA Qld Bowl of Hygeia and in 2008 was the inaugural recipient of the AACP Consultant Pharmacist Award.

Dr Geraldine Moses

BPharm, DClinPharm, AACPA

Adjunct Associate Professor Geraldine Moses is a consultant clinical pharmacist specialising in drug information.She works part-time in the University of Queensland’s School of Pharmacy, as well as in the Academic Practice of the Mater Public Hospital in Brisbane and also works for the Australian Dental Association providing a national drug information service for ADA members called “Pharma-Advice.”

As an accredited pharmacist she provides HMRs in her local area as well as Medschecks for selected outpatients at the Mater Hospital.

She also consults to organisations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, HCF Insurance, the New Zealand Dental Association and the Queensland Office of Health Ombudsman.

A frequent speaker at seminars and conferences, Geraldine is also well-known for her media profile and in 2002 she was named Australian Pharmacist of the Year.

Prof Jeff Hughes is a former Head of the School of Pharmacy, Curtin University.

He graduated from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) with a BPharm degree in 1978, since that time he has completed three postgraduate degrees including his PhD which he received in 2007.

Prof Hughes has received a number of state and national awards for his contribution to pharmacy education, practice and research including the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia’s Pharmacist of the Year award in 2004, the Eric Kirk Memorial Award in 2008 and the AACP-Pfizer Consultant Pharmacist Award in 2009.

His research interests included pharmacy education and practice, disease statement management, adverse drug reactions and medication safety. He has published over 200 research and professional papers and contributed to 17 books. Jeff is a practising accredited pharmacist and a part owner of a community pharmacy.
